So, You’ve Been In An Accident…
After an accident, our best advice is to remain calm. Make sure everyone in the veichle is OK, if there are injuries, call 911 immediately. If the position of your vehicle will put you or others in danger you should move it, otherwise do not move your vehicle until instructed by a police office
Get all the information you need before you leave the scene such as the other driver’s insurance, contact information, driver’s license, passenger names. While talking to the other driver and police, only give information requested and never admit to being at fault. It is wise to not give unnecessary information such as personal condition, what you were thinking or anything unrelated to the accident.
Make your own notes about the accident as soon as possible when your memory is fresh. Things such as weather conditions, how the accident occurred, the extent of damages you see, and anything the other driver said. You can also take pictures of your vehicle, the other vehicle and the accident scene.
