FAQs
/01Do I have to use the shop my insurance recommends?
Nope. It’s your car—you choose who fixes it. Even if your insurer suggests a preferred shop, you have the legal right to select the repair facility you trust. We work with all major insurance providers and will help with the paperwork.
/02Can you match the original paint color?
Yes! At 5-Star Collision, we use advanced color-matching technology and PPG Envirobase® Performance paint to match your vehicle’s original color with precision—whether it’s a factory finish or a custom shade.
/03Will my car look the same after repairs?
That’s our goal. Our I-CAR Gold Class certified technicians are trained to restore your vehicle to pre-accident condition—visually and structurally. Most people can’t even tell repairs were done.
/04How do I know if my frame is damaged?
Frame damage isn’t always visible, but signs may include uneven gaps, misaligned panels, or your car pulling to one side. We use digital frame measuring systems to check for structural issues and ensure everything is repaired to factory specs.
/05How long do auto body repairs typically take?
It depends on the extent of the damage. Minor repairs might take a day or two, while more complex jobs (especially those involving frame or paint work) can take a week or longer. We’ll provide a timeline for auto body work upfront and keep you updated along the way.
/06Can you repair aluminum body panels?
Yes. Our team is trained and equipped to repair aluminum body parts, which require special tools and techniques. Whether your vehicle has aluminum doors, hoods, or panels—we’ve got it covered.
/07Can I wash my car after auto body work?
You can, but it’s best to wait at least 48 hours before washing, and avoid automatic or high-pressure car washes for 2–3 weeks. Hand washing with mild soap is safest during that time while the paint fully cures.
/08Will the repair affect my car’s resale value?
Not if it’s done right. High-quality repairs using OEM procedures and proper refinishing techniques help preserve your vehicle’s value. Poor-quality repairs, on the other hand, can hurt it—which is why choosing a trusted shop matters.
/09What if hidden damage is found during the repair?
It’s not uncommon. Once we remove damaged panels, we sometimes discover issues that weren’t visible during the initial estimate. If that happens, we’ll contact you and your insurance company right away to update the estimate and get approval before moving forward.
